Catch 22 - Addiction

Brazilian world cup was really exciting for every individual Bhutanese. Especially it had total effect in Sherubtseans. About 200 students would be watching an ugly decade old TV set box. The curious student leaders could setup projector in the opening match of FIFA World Cup. I say that they did so because they had a slight adrenaline rush that night. But in average, it was the best time I ever had in front of TV. My hostel is always known for best cooperation and helping hand in any situation. We did lot for the 32 participating countries each contributing 50 bucks. First would get 1000 bucks and 600 to the runners-up. Well Germany won and ironically, mine was Australia.

What interested me was our attitude change that drew us to the closest of TV. Even I could rush till middle by pushing the people in the front to the farthest to TV. The more I got near, I felt more ease with the view and the when the view was more clear, I started to move more toward the TV when more than 50 were struggling from the back. It was simply catch 22. Selfish exactly the word I should be putting in front of my name that time. If I had given some way to the people who wanted the front it would have satisfied their mind and I would have been proud to have helped my friend to claim what they want.

Addiction to anything in this tangible world is catch 22. The more we have, more we want to make and the more we make, we like having more. Our mind is infinite and we like to multiply what we have if it is best. I have seen my friends drinking to wash away their sorrow. But more they drink; they make big issue out of nothing. Sadness makes them drink and drinking makes them feel even more sad.

I don’t know if there is something called women-addiction but I have seen a lot of those. I got a beautiful girlfriend and when I walk by with her I see a lot of beautiful women and all those artificial red heads. In such situation, when our mind becomes too volatile, we imagine those women to be with us in any best and filthy places as possible. Even this dream comes true, next time we’ll see another more gorgeous and sexy red head in another walk. Our mind again becomes volatile and same process revolves. This sort of scenario has many parts of impact such as getting ourselves satisfied and is destroying that particular girl’s image depending on how open you are. Too much open can expose private things to the public. We have to stay firm with what we have and where we are.
